Laconia, N.H : Motorcyclist dies after collision with car on Union Avenue near Friendly's on Thursday afternoon, June 9, 2016

A motorcyclist died at the hospital after colliding with a car in Laconia Thursday afternoon.

Laconia police were dispatched to the crash site on Union Avenue near Friendly's around 3:45 p.m.

Police said the motorcycle had been traveling west on Union Avenue when it collided with an eastbound car that was turning into a business on Union Avenue.

The motorcyclist was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital and was later flown to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, but the operator died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash.

The occupants of the car were not injured, officials said.

The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time.

This crash remains under investigation.
