Inverness, FL : 16-year-old Citrus High School student killed in a car crash on State Road 44 in Citrus County on Wednesday, Nov 25, 2015

A 16-year-old Citrus High School student was killed Wednesday in a car crash on State Road 44 near Inverness.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, Ashley Elizabeth Wilson, of Inverness, was driving a 2010 Mazda south on South Run for the Roses Drive near S.R. 44 at around 1:07 p.m. when, without stopping, she attempted to cross the westbound lanes of S.R. 44, driving into the path of a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Anthony Wayne Jones, 51, who had a 17-year-old passenger with him. Jones’ truck collided with the driver's side of Wilson's car.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene; Anthony and Bret Jones received minor injuries, but were not transported to a hospital.

No charges are pending.
