Yorkville, IL : Pedestrian killed in crash near the intersection of Autumn Creek Boulevard and Route 34 on Sunday, 12th January, 2020
Yorkville police are investigating a fatal crash early Sunday involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.
According to a press release issued by the Yorkville Police Department, a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 1:03 a.m., Jan. 12, near the intersection of Autumn Creek Boulevard and Route 34. Officers reported that the pedestrian had previously been walking westbound on Route 34 in the northbound lane.
The pedestrian, later identified as Ryan Baker, 26, of Yorkville, was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead.
Yorkville police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle is a 26-year-old man from Oswego, but did not disclose his identity.
All lanes of traffic on Route 34 were reopened at approximately 7:15 a.m.
The accident investigation is being conducted by the Yorkville police with the assistance of the Kane County Sheriff's Office and Illinois State Police traffic crash reconstruction teams. The Kane County Coroner's Office is also assisting in the investigation.
