One person died in a crash on I-485 near South Boulevard early Sunday morning.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol believe the driver lost control, hit a pole and a sign, corrected back onto the highway and slammed into the median. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials have not released the name of the driver, but said speed appears to have been a factor in the fatal wreck.
Lanes were closed as troopers investigated, but all lanes were reopen by 5 a.m.
