Nederland ,TX : Stevie Ray Hergert, 16 killed after all-terrain vehicle accident while she was on camping trip on Saturday ,August 1st 2015

The people of a small east Texas town are mourning the loss of a beloved beauty whose life was cut short just weeks before she was to start her senior year of high school.

Stevie Ray Hergert, 16, was tragically killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident while she was on a camping trip with a friend early Saturday.

The accident devastated friends and family in the town of Nederland.

“I went crazy screaming,” Hergert’s mother Carmell, 52, told the Daily News. “I just hit the floor.”

Meagan Presswood, a long-time friend of Hergert’s, has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family raise money for her funeral. The goal is to reach $15,000. So far, the account has raised more than $5,000.

“She was an angel. She touched a lot of lives,” Carmell Hergert said of her daughter. “The mothers of these kids and the dads of these kids have come by crying and donating money.”

Carmell Hergert said she would be lost without the overwhelming support from the community.
