TUSCALOOSA, AL : Bessemer man killed in hit-and-run wreck on I-59 on June, Thursday 22th 2017

Authorities are searching for the driver who struck and killed a man on Interstate 59 in Tuscaloosa before fleeing.

Alabama State Troopers spokesman Reginal King tells local media that 54-year-old Darrell James Pettie of Bessemer was involved in a crash at about 2:30 p.m. on the interstate. He stepped outside his vehicle and was struck by a passing 2005 Dodge 1500.

King says the driver of the Dodge left on foot before they could be identified.

Pettie was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
