Lyndon ,VT :St. Johnsbury man dead after car crash on Saturday afternoon , July 4th 2015

An Independence Day crash in Lyndon has turned deadly.

Vermont State Police say 66-year-old Almond Fletcher has succumbed to his injuries. The St. Johnsbury man was involved in a single car crash on Elliott Road Saturday afternoon.

He was taken to Northeast Vermont Regional Hospital where he died Monday. Troopers say his death remains under investigation.

The Vermont State Police say this was the only fatality on the July Fourth holiday weekend, and 21 total fatalities in the state this year so far.

Police said they responded to three impaired-related crashes, 34 total crashes, 12 drunken driving arrests, 323 speeding tickets and assisted over 52 drivers.
