Stendal, IN : Northeast Indiana man injured in truck crash Steuben County Road 325 on Friday October 16 2015
An Northeast, Indiana man is in the hospital after he crashed into a farm sprayer in Steuben County. It happened in Pleasant Lake on Golden Lake road east of County Road 325 West around 5 p.m. Friday, October 16.When emergency crews arrived on scene, they found a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was driven by 32-year-old Buryl Smith from Ashley, Indiana on the North-side of the roadway. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said they also found a large Terra-Gator 1803 farm field sprayer driven by 30-year-old Timothy Julian from Pleasant Lake Indiana damaged nearby.
The Sheriff’s Department said Smith was found pinned in the truck and had to be freed by the Angola Fire Department. Through the investigation, police said that Smith was driving westbound on Golden Lake road and had driven left of center hitting the farm sprayer. His vehicle then spun 180 degrees stopping on the North-side of the roadway.
Smith was removed from the pick-up and taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne by for injuries to his legs. The farm field sprayer driver wasn’t hurt in the crash.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said both drivers were wearing seat belts and the airbags did deploy in Smith’s pick-up. They also said that they don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
