Copiah County, MS : Copiah Academy quarterback killed in car crash Tuesday September 29, 2015

Students and faculty at Copiah Academy are grieving after the quarterback of their football team, Jarious "Jay" Holloway, was killed in a car accident on Tuesday morning.

Administrators at Copiah Academy wanted to give their students an outlet to pray and grieve, so on Tuesday night they gathered at the Crystal Springs First Baptist Church to do just that.

Holloway was killed during in a one car accident on Rutledge Road. Investigators say he lost control of his car, and it left the road and struck a tree. The accident happened while he was on his way to school, less than a mile from his home.

Head Football Coach Paul Anderson said, "He was such a ray of light for these kids at this school. He was such a great influence on all these kids at this school. There's a lot of kids hurting right now."

Administrators at the school say Jay was a leader on and off the field and a perfect example of a student athlete.

Anderson said, "It sounds cliche but we can't replace Jay. Jay is the kind of student, student-athlete that you want at your school he represents god his family, represents Copiah in the fashion we want it represented."

Coach Anderson said Jay was also a great competitor on the field and that made him such a good leader.

"That's the first thing I think about is his smile and what a great kid he was, just had a great group of parents, they just did a great job of raising him, just a pleasure to be around and made coaching...he's the kind of kid that made coaching a lot of fun," said Coach Anderson.

Although grief counselors will be on hand, the school admits that they will have to rely on each other and their faith to make it through this tragic time.
