Valparaíso, IN : 2 people killed in motorcycle crash in Valparaiso on Sunday, 19th August 2018

Two people on a motorcycle were killed Sunday afternoon in Valparaiso when the driver attempted to avoid a sport utility vehicle on Indiana 130, officials said.

The passenger on the motorcycle, Jaclyn Nauracy, 26, of Schererville, suffered blunt force injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris.

The driver of the motorcycle, Nicholas Branham, 36, of Valparaiso, was transported to Porter Regional Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m. Sunday, according to Harris.

The crash occurred at 3:45 p.m., at Froberg Road and Ind. 130, according to Sgt. Michael Grennes, public information officer for the Valparaiso Police Department.

The motorcycle was eastbound on Ind. 130. As the motorcycle approached the intersection with Froberg Road, a white Cadillac Escalade was traveling south on Froberg Road and began to cross the intersection, Harris and Grennes said.
