A Union County woman was injured early Thursday morning in a one-vehicle crash on the U.S. 41 northbound bridge over the Ohio River at Henderson.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office said the accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. when Heather Dunning, 30, Sturgis, was driving a 2003 Dodge Caravan northbound.

Dunning told authorities that she fell asleep and the vehicle drifted to the right, striking the concrete support and overturning, according to reports. The van landed on its top, blocking the right lane, the sheriff's office said.

Dunning was transported to Methodist Hospital for elbow pain. The sheriff's office said she was wearing a seat belt.
