Pescadero, CA : 32-year-old man killed in a fiery crash in Pescadero on Friday, March 27, 2015
A 32-year-old man killed in a fiery crash in Pescadero was identified Wednesday as Luis Martinez-Negrete.
Martinez-Negrete, a resident of Pescadero, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Pescadero Creek Road and North Street, where his car went over an embankment about 8:15 p.m. Friday and immediately burst into flames, California Highway Patrol officials said. Investigators believe he may have taken a sharp turn too quickly and failed to negotiate the curve.
Fire crews knocked down the flames and discovered Martinez-Negrete's body trapped in the driver's seat, officials said. His body was extricated from the car and taken to the coroner's office for an autopsy.
CHP officials are investigating reports that the man may have been drinking at a local tavern, but have not released information indicating alcohol was a factor. The investigation is ongoing.
