COLCHESTER, CT : 2-vehicle crash closes portion of Route 16 in Colchester on Tuesday, 22nd January 2019

A fatal crash involving two vehicles has closed part of Route 16 in Colchester on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, the route was closed near Northern Boulevard because of the collision.

The crash was first reported around 2:55 p.m. State Police said the collision resulted in at least one fatality. According to police, two vehicles collided head on and caused heavy damage to both cars. A driver and a passenger in one car were transported to the Hartford hospital for injuries sustained.

The driver in the second vehicle was removed from the car by Colchester Fire and EMS, then CPR was intiated. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Parimedics. Officials identified the deceased as Tobias Hussey, 37 of Plainville.

Officials are currently investigating the accident.
