Carlin, NV : South Carolina woman driving U-Haul killed in crash into truck on I-80 exit ramp near Carlin Wednesday August 9th 2015
A South Carolina woman driving a U-Haul truck on Interstate 80 in northeast Nevada has been killed in a crash on an exit ramp near Carlin.
The Nevada Highway Patrol says the 55-year-old woman from Rock Hill, South Carolina was declared dead at the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Trooper Jim Stewart told the Elko Daily Free Press a preliminary investigation indicates she did not attempt to brake before she slammed into the back of a semi-trailer truck at a stop sign on the exit ramp in Carlin just west of Elko. Her name has not been released.
One of two dogs in the rental truck also was killed. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
