The N.C. Highway Patrol has filed multiple charges against a motorist after a brother and sister were hurt when they were hit by an SUV as they tried to get on a school bus in Wilson County.
Lt. Jeff Gordon said 27-year-old Marcos Santiaga Bautista faces five charges, including felony hit and run and felony passing a stopped school bus.
According to the patrol, a school bus from Rock Bridge Elementary School had stopped to pick up two children. The bus had come to a stop and its stop arm was extended when the 10-year-old boy and his 5-year-old sister were struck around 7 a.m. Thursday near Sims.
Bautista is being held under a $30,000 secured bond. It's not known if he has an attorney.
