ST. LOUIS, MO : 1 person dead after car crash in south St. Louis County on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024

One person is dead after a car crash that happened Wednesday morning in south St. Louis County.

Authorities say the crash happened around 1 a.m. on Southbound I-55, just north of Lindbergh. First Alert 4 crews spotted an SUV flipped onto its roof. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the driver lost control of the vehicle after evading a St. Louis County officer. The vehicle drove off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Lucas Menz, of St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash shut down southbound lanes of I-55 at Reavis Barracks for hours but it has since reopened.
