DeSoto County, MS : 83 year-old man died in a one-car accident on Greenbrook Parkway in Southaven on Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2016

DeSoto County authorities say an 83 year-old Southaven man died in a one-car accident on Greenbrook Parkway in Southaven late Wednesday afternoon.

According to DeSoto County Coroner Jeff Pounders the man has been identified as Joseph Dupuy, 83, of 1195 Dorchester Apartments in Southaven.

Pounders said Dupuy was driving a 1996 Dodge Intrepid on Greenbrook Parkway, one block north of Rasco Road, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle.

Pounders said that Dupuy crossed the southbound lane of Greenbrook Parkway and struck a tree in the front yard of a home. He was not wearing a seatbelt and his head was said to have struck the steering wheel.

According to Pounders, the elderly man suffered from several medical issues.
