Harrisburg, OR : Coburg man injured after crashing motorcycle entering I-5 rest area near Harrisburg on Friday night, October 3, 2014
A motorcyclist crashed in the Oak Grove Rest Area on Interstate 5 near Harrisburg on Friday night, and was taken to a Springfield hospital with serious injuries.
Oregon State Police is investigating the incident.
The motorcyclist, Eddie R. Bates, 42, of Coburg, entered the northbound rest area at about 7:33 p.m., and he was going approximately 50 mph.
His motorcycle struck a curb, ejecting him about 75 feet and onto the ground.
Bates, who was wearing a protective helmet, was transported by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
Oregon State Police was assisted at the scene by Harrisburg Fire Department, Eugene and Springfield fire and medical personnel, and the Oregon department of Transportation.
