Covington County, MS : 1 killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 588 on Monday, October 3, 2016
A two-vehicle accident in Covington County claimed the life of a Mt. Olive man.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Master Sgt. Brent Barfield, officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs. semi trailer accident four miles east of Collins on Highway 588 on Monday around 7 a.m.
Ryan Sanford, 45 of Mt. Olive, was pronounced dead on scene by the Covington County coroner.
“Wesley Nix, of Ellisville was driving his International semi-trailer East on Highway 588 when Ryan Sanford rear-ended him in a 2014 Hyundai,” Barfield said.
The driver of the semi did not sustain any injuries in the wreck.
Sanford was a full-time EMT-I with Covington County Hospital EMS. He also worked part time with ASAP Ambulance Service.
Recently, he was a PRN with ASAP and was a nursing student at JCJC.
