OKLAHOMA CITY, OK : Patient dies after ambulance crashes in southwest OKC on Wednesday, August 16, 2017
A patient being taken to the hospital in an ambulance has died after the vehicle crashed early Wednesday morning in northwest Oklahoma City.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the ambulance was going northbound on Interstate 44 near Southwest 59th Street, when the driver lost control and the ambulance rolled down the embankment.Troopers said the compartment separated from the vehicle, throwing the patient and a paramedic out of the vehicle.
The ambulance was taking the patient to St. Anthony Hospital at the time of the crash. The 66-year-old woman from Blanchard, Oklahoma, was pronounced dead at the scene due to head injuries.
Two paramedics were taken to the hospital. They are said to be in good condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
