Wilson County, KS : Fredonia man killed in semi-pickup truck crash on US-400 highway, about a mile southeast of Fredonia on Tuesday, 10th September 2019
One person was killed in a semi-pickup truck crash Tuesday afternoon in Wilson County in southeast Kansas, authorities said.
The crash was reported at 1:43 p.m. Tuesday on US-400 highway, about a mile southeast of Fredonia.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a 1994 Dodge pickup truck that was eastbound on US-400 highway pulled to the right of the roadway and attempted to make a U-turn. A 2011 Volvo semi-trailer that also was eastbound on US-400 then hit the Dodge pickup truck on the driver’s side door.
The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, David L. Rasmussen Jr., 46, of Fredonia, was transported to Fredonia Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The patrol said Rasmussen, who was alone in his vehicle, wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the semi, Scott M. Gronau, 50, of Pittsburg, was reported uninjured. The patrol said Gronau, who was alone in the semi, was wearing a seat belt.
