An 82-year-old San Jose woman was killed on Interstate 280 near Los Altos Hills about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when her car veered off of the freeway and onto the right shoulder and then overturned, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The woman, who was not immediately identified, was driving a 2000 Kia sedan when it veered to the right for unknown reasons, according to CHP officer Art Montiel. She had been traveling south on I-280.
When the vehicle hit the shoulder and overturned, the driver was partially ejected from the car, according to Montiel. It was unclear if she was wearing a seatbelt.
