GALESBURG, IL : Cyclist dies from hit-and-run injuries on Friday, 5th July 2024

A cyclist died from his injuries after being hit by a vehicle in Galesburg. Police made an arrest the next day.

Eric McKinney, 46, died at 12:15 a.m. Friday at the hospital after Galesburg police officers found him lying unresponsive on the road.

Police said they arrested Martha Ray, 65, for leaving the scene of the fatal crash.

Officers were leaving the Lake Storey Park fireworks show at about 11 p.m. Thursday when they found McKinney in the 3500 block of North Henderson Street.
