Checotah, OK : Baby dies after single-car crash on Interstate 40 in McIntosh County on Monday, April 3, 2017

A baby was pronounced dead Monday after a car crashed on Interstate 40 about 12 miles west of Checotah.
The infant, a 9-month-old boy, was a passenger in an eastbound 2008 Ford Focus when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road around 8 a.m., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The driver was identified as Kalyn Britt, 23, of Dewar.
The vehicle hit a culvert and several trees and rotated, ejecting the baby through the back window, according to the report.
The infant, whom troopers did not identify, reportedly was not in a car seat.
He was taken to a Henryetta hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Britt, who not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected during the crash, the OHP said.
She was taken by helicopter to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
