Pleasant Hill, CA : Two people died and another critically injured in a rollover crash on Contra Costa Boulevard on Sunday night, January 3, 2016

Authorities say two people were killed and another was critically injured following a car crash east of San Francisco.

The Oakland Tribune reports Monday that the crash happened about 8 p.m. Sunday in Pleasant Hill.

The car hit a concrete traffic wall near the northbound Interstate 680 off-ramp and then flipped over.

The 68-year-old male driver and a 69-year-old female passenger were seriously injured and taken to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where they later died. Their names were not released, the newspaper reported.

Police say a second passenger, a 78-year-old woman, was in critical but stable condition at the hospital. Her name also was not released.

Police have not said what caused the crash.
