Lane County, OR : Two people killed, one injured in head-on crash on Highway 126 near Leaburg early Sunday morning, May 29, 2016
Two people were killed in a crash on Highway 126 in Lane County early Sunday morning, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a crash at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Highway 126 near Leaburg.
According to Oregon State Police, a 1990 Mazda pickup, driven by Brett Wildgen, 46, of Springfield, was driving east on Highway 126 when it crossed the centerline and hit a westbound 2004 Honda Civic head-on. Oregon State Police said the driver of the Honda Civic was Kenndra Haney, 21, of Springfield.
Both drivers died at the scene, according to Oregon State Police. A passenger in the Honda, Chase Holden, 19, of Springfield was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
McKenzie Fire assisted with medical transport, according to Oregon State Police. The Oregon Department of Transportation assisted as well.
Police said alcohol consumption by the driver of the Mazda is being considered as a contributing factor in the crash.
