Lincoln, NE : One person is dead after a head on collision on Highway 83 on Thursday, 24th May 2018

Nebraska State Patrol said one person is dead after a head on collision on Highway 83, north of Stapleton. The crash happened after 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

Officials said Marvin Jensen, a North Platte man in his mid seventies, was killed in the crash.

State Patrol said Jensen was heading northbound on Highway 83 when he crossed the center line and hit a semi heading south. Officials said it was nearly a head on collision.

NSP said Jensen was the only person in the vehicle.

Daniel Ray Brinkley of Oklahoma was driving the semi and was not hurt.

Logan County Attorney Colten Venteicher said they do not know what caused the crash at this time, but they are investigating the accident.

NSP Troop D Captain Martin Denton said they will conduct an accident reconstruction.
