Topeka, KS : Motorist taken to hospital with minor injuries after car crashes into garage on Saturday night, June 11, 2016
A motorist sustained what police described as minor injuries Saturday night after crashing a car into the garage of a split-level East Topeka residence.
The garage door appeared to have become unattached and rested at an angle. The extent of structural damage from the collision wasn’t immediately clear.
The crash was reported about 9 p.m. in the 3000 block of S.E. Kentucky.
The person was identified as David T. Epling, driving a 4DR Chevy Cruze, committing a traffic infraction at 29th and SE Ohio.
A second car came to rest on the lawn. It wasn’t clear whether damage to that vehicle was caused by a collision with the first vehicle or another object.
Epling was apprehended by officers and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle struck by Epling was treated and released by an AMR crew at the scene.
Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in this incident and the investigation is still ongoing.
