Auburn Hills, MI : Columbus Township man died after being ejected from his pickup truck in a crash on I-75 in Auburn Hills on Wednesday morning, March 18, 2015
A 21-year-old man died early Wednesday in a crash on northbound Interstate 75, Auburn Hills police said.
A preliminary investigation found that the man was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 pickup near East Walton about 5:30 a.m. when the truck “left the roadway to the right, striking a highway guardrail,” police said in a statement. “The vehicle then veered left across all lanes and struck the concrete median wall.”
The driver, from Columbus, Michigan, was alone and not wearing a seat belt. He was ejected, police said, and died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which caused authorities to close northbound I-75 at University Drive for several hours.
The Southeast Oakland County Crash Investigation Team is investigating the incident. It was not immediately known if alcohol or drugs were a factor, police said.
