A Washington man suffered minor injuries in a Saturday morning crash after driving through a billboard sign and striking several trees.
William Prigmore, of Seatac, Washington, was traveling east at 9:47 a.m. on Interstate 90, near mile marker 317, which is three miles west of Mount Vernon.
Prigmore, 37, lost control of his 1997 Dodge Ram and entered the south ditch, where the vehicle struck a fence, continued through the middle of a billboard sign and struck several trees before becoming lodged between two larger trees, according to Tony Mangan, public information officer for the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
Prigmore was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
There were no passengers in the vehicle. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating and charges are pending.
Other responding agencies were Mitchell Ambulance, Aurora County Sheriff's Office and the Davison County Sheriff's Office.
