The Villages, FL : Man, 64, suffers medical issue, dies in crash on Thursday, February 23, 2017

An East Lake Weir man died at a hospital Thursday after suffering a medical condition while driving.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Gary Hermann was driving a 2002 Chevy westbound on Southeast 156th Place Road at Southeast 160th Avenue when he suffered an unspecified medical event. The vehicle drifted onto the south shoulder, struck a fence, hit a second fence, went across a grassy field and headed toward a pond. The vehicle stopped at the edge of the water, the patrol said in a news release.

Hermann, 64, was taken to The Villages Regional Hospital, where he died. It's unknown whether he was wearing a seat belt.
