LAKE COUNTY, FL : Fatal head-on crash shut down State Road 46 in Lake County on Friday, 15th September 2023

A fatal crash in Sorrento closed State Road 46 in both directions Friday night.

A sedan collided head-on with a truck tractor on State Road 46 near Wekiva Pine Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the sedan was traveling westbound when it veered into the eastbound lanes, into the path of the truck tractor.

The driver of the sedan, a 42-year-old man from Umatilla, died at the hospital, while the driver and passenger of the truck tractor were taken to Central Florida Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
