A driver with a history of DWI convictions was arrested again on suspicion of drunken driving after a motorcyclist struck the driver’s stalled sport utility vehicle on Interstate 270 in south St. Louis County and died, authorities said.
Marko Knezevic, 23, of south St. Louis County, was driving a 2009 Yamaha sportbike south on I-270 about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday when he crashed into a 2003 GMC Envoy that was blocking the highway after hitting the median wall, the Missouri Highway Patrol said.
Mark T. McKay, 40, also of south St. Louis County, was driving south in the SUV near Gravois Road when it hit the median wall several times, spun around and stopped, the patrol said. McKay was no longer in the SUV, but it was blocking lanes when Knezevic crashed into it.
Knezevic, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the crash scene, the patrol said.
McKay was arrested on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance, according to the patrol. He was booked at the St. Louis County Jail and released pending charges.
