MOULTON, AL : Moulton woman dies after 4-vehicle wreck on Thursday, January 5th 2017
A Moulton woman died Thursday afternoon as a result of a four-vehicle wreck in Moulton that morning, state troopers said.
Barbara N. Terry, 71, was injured in the wreck at about 8:50 a.m. and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital, where she died at 5:46 p.m. Thursday, said Johnathan Appling, senior trooper and public information officer.
Appling said Terry was driving a 2005 Ford Freestyle when it collided with a 2013 Ford Taurus driven by Brent L. Durbin, 38, of Moulton. Durbin was transported to Lawrence Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said Friday she could not release his condition.
Two other drivers, Charles R. Fretenborough, 53, of Bear Creek, Michigan, and Rhonda P. Richardson, 46, of Columbus, Mississippi, were involved in the accident but not injured, Appling said.
The wreck occurred at Alabama 24 and Lawrence County 460, also known as Court Street extension, 1 mile east of Moulton.
Lawrence County 911 director Tammy Vinson said her agency received the first call of the accident at 8:49 a.m.“The caller said the accident involved multiple vehicles and possible injuries,” Vinson said.
Moulton Baptist Church Senior Pastor Jesse Reeder said Terry was an active member and a leader in the church.
“This is a tremendous tragedy,” Reeder said. “Her death is a hard blow for her family and the church family. It’s a sad day for our community.”
Reeder said Terry was a retired postal worker and her husband Stencil is an active deacon in the church.
Church secretary Selena Nelson said funeral services for Terry will be at Moulton Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday. Visitation, also at the church, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Appling said the wreck is still under investigation.
