Eleven people are injured after a school bus involved in a crash in south Charlotte

Eleven people are being treated for injuries after a school bus from Rowan County was involved in a crash in south Charlotte on Friday.

According to MEDIC, the bus crashed along the 5700 block of Providence Road around 11 a.m. This is near Shalom Park.

WBTV has learned that eleven people are being treated for injuries. Most of the injuries are considered to be minor.

The students were from Rowan County and were headed to a field trip to the Jewish Community Center (JCC) when the crash occurred.

WBTV has learned that the bus driver backed up the school bus along Columbine Circle and hit a wall. No one was seriously injured in the crash.

Students on board the Rowan-Salisbury Schools bus varied in between 12 and 13-years-old.

Patients were being held inside the JCC where they received initial treatment.

MEDIC brought out the mass casualty bus to help transport patients to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, in Charlotte.
