TULSA, OK : Wanted man crashes on I-44 Arkansas River bridge after police end pursuit on Friday, 2nd February 2024

The Tulsa Police Department said a man wanted for domestic strangulation crashed on the I-44 bridge at the Arkansas River after police ended a pursuit due to high speeds.

Police said at around 1:10 p.m., an officer pulled over Elder Mejia near 41st and Lewis.

According to police, Mejia had a warrant for felony domestic strangulation.

Police said Mejia initially pulled over, but then sped off and police chased him.

According to police, the chase was ended due to high speeds as Mejia turned onto I-44.

Police said despite no one chasing him, Mejia continued driving fast and crashed into a pickup truck on the I-44 bridge.
