The person injured in a two-car wreck in which another person died Friday night remained hospitalized on Saturday.
The injured person, 30-year-old Candace Perry of Ocala, was in fair condition at Ocala Regional Medical Center, according to spokesperson Suzanne Santangelo.
The second individual in the crash, Karalea D. Walker, 50, also of Ocala, died Friday night when the car she was driving pulled out in front of Perry’s vehicle from Northwest 100th Street. The impact spun Walker’s car 360 degrees, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said. And, during the turn, Walker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the passenger’s window and onto the ground, officials said.
Walker’s car, a 2003 Honda Civic, then ran over her and she died at the scene, authorities said.
Perry’s 2007 Ford Fusion, which was heading southbound on County Road 25A, struck a utility pole, which had to be replaced by Duke Energy technicians called to the scene to repair the damage. It’s unknown if Perry was wearing her seat belt, officials said.
The crash occurred at the intersection of CR 25A and Northwest 100th Street.
