Bedford, OH : Man and woman arrested after a chase involving the Akron police Drug Unit near Hammel Street and East Wilbeth Road on Wednesday evening, February 25, 2015
A multiple-county car chase involving a police drug unit ended in a crash in Cuyahoga County on Wednesday.
An Akron Police drug unit began chasing a white Cadillac Escalade at about 7 p.m.
Police say they attempted to pull over the SUV, which had a man and a woman inside, after receiving a tip they were delivering cocaine.
The drug unit tried to pull the SUV over at Hammel Street and East Wilbeth Road and police say the Cadillac took off.
While being chased, police say the Cadillac took State Route 8 and sideswiped a car just south of Perkins Street.
The Cadillac continued on State Route 8 into Macedonia, where it sideswiped another car, according to police.
The chase then went onto Interstate 271 heading northbound into Bedford when the SUV went down into a median, crashed and got stuck in snow.
The suspects were arrested and are in Akron Police custody.
Police reported no injuries at this time.
