HARTFORD CITY, IN : Man killed in Blackford County factory accident on Tuesday, 24th March, 2020

A Blackford County man was killed late Tuesday morning in an accident at the Montpelier plant where he worked.

Jeffrey Humphries, 51, of Montpelier, was pronounced dead at the scene, at the NRP of Indiana facility, Blackford County Coroner Zach Crouch confirmed.

The coroner said Humphries was on a ladder, apparently working on a pipe, when he fell to the floor, suffering fatal head injuries.

Authorities estimated the fall at 10 to 12 feet.

An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
