St. Petersburg, FL : Pedestrian struck, killed while crossing street in St. Petersburg Saturday night on June 7, 2014

A 59-year-old Bay area man was killed Saturday night when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Central Ave. in St. Petersburg.

Isaac Gordon Rodgers was transported to Bayfront Medical Center where he later died. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of 58th St.

According to a St. Petersburg Police Department report a 1996 Ford driven by Jayson Jaqua was traveling north in the median lane of 58th when the front end of the vehicle struck a 2010 black Toyota.

The Toyota – driven by Ave Washington a 21-year-old St. Petersburg resident – slid east spinning in a clockwise direction. It then struck Rodgers who was in the process of crossing the street when the collision occurred.

Jaqua, a 28-year-old St. Pete man, was not hurt. No charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
