LANTANA, FL : Lantana man dies in single-vehicle crash on Congress Avenue on Sunday, 23rd December 2018

A Lantana man has died after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on Congress Avenue early Sunday, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Jose Marbin Velasquez Alvarado, 41, was driving a 2000 Lincoln 4D southbound on Congress Avenue from Lantana Road, just west of Interstate 95, at about 2 a.m.

Alvarado’s car left the roadway, with his tires on the grass shoulder on the west side of the road.

Alvarado over-corrected, causing the car to turn in a southeast direction and hit a palm tree in the center median.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.
