Saguache, CO : Monte Vista man dies in motorcycle crash west of town on Colorado 114 on Sunday, June 12, 2016

A Monte Vista man died Sunday in a motorcycle accident roughly 30 miles west of town on Colorado 114.

Gerald Vigil, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Saguache County coroner, according to a Colorado State Patrol news release.

Vigil was riding a 2006 Honda motorcycle eastbound when he lost control on a curve and was ejected.

State patrol technician Garth Crowther said excessive speed was a factor in the crash.

Alcohol was not believed to have played a role.

The crash remains under investigation by the state patrol.
