Garber, OK : Four juveniles involved in crash of stolen vehicle early Monday morning, February 13, 2017
Four boys were in a vehicle stolen from Garber Public Schools when it crashed early Monday morning on Shell Road.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred at 4:05 a.m., 1.2 miles east of Garber. The 2006 Ford Explorer was driven by a 16-year-old Garber boy. His name was withheld by the patrol.
The boy was transported by Life EMS to St. Mary's Regional Medical Center and then transferred by Air Evac to Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, according to the report. He was admitted in stable condition with internal body injuries.
His passengers were two 15-year-olds, both from Enid, and a 12-year-old from Garber. Their names also withheld by OHP, and they were transported by Garber EMS to St. Mary's, where they were treated and released, according to the report.
The Ford was northbound on Shell Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle, according to the report. The vehicle left the roadway to the left and struck an embankment, which caused the vehicle roll an unknown amount of times. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
The boy's condition at the time of the crash is listed as "apparently normal," and the cause of the collision as "unsafe speed for roadway and experience."
Garfield County Sheriff Jerry Niles said the vehicle had been reported stolen from Garber Public Schools.
