Windsor, CT : Connecticut fire chief dies in traffic crash at Route 20 On Thursday, July 14th, 2016
State police say a Connecticut fire chief has died in a single-vehicle car crash.
Police say Easy Granby Fire Chief Peter Ahlstrin was driving east on Route 20 in Windsor at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday when his pickup truck went off the road, struck the wire rope railing and rolled down an embankment.
The 29-year-old Ahlstrin was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
The department on its Facebook page posted: "Rest easy Chief, we'll take it from here."
Easy Granby is town of about 5,000 residents about 15 miles north of Hartford.
