Two people suffered minor injuries after a Phoenix police motorcycle officer collided with a car blocking freeway traffic.
Police Sgt. Trent Crump says the crash happened Sunday shortly before 5 a.m. on Interstate 17 at Union Hills Drive.
Authorities say Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers were already en route because of a report of a vehicle blocking the northbound lanes when the collision occurred.
Both the driver and the officer were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
I-17 northbound lanes remained closed for about five hours.
