EDINBORO, PA : Three people were hurt in an early morning crash on Tuesday, July 25, 2017
Three people were hurt in an early morning crash Tuesday involving a vehicle headed the wrong direction on Interstate 79 near Edinboro.
Police said that Ananta Olivero, 24, of Erie, was driving north in the interstate’s southbound lanes at about 4:15 a.m. when his car hit a southbound car driven by Joetta Garner, 54, of Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Garner saw the Olivero’s car approaching and swerved onto the road shoulder but couldn’t avoid being hit by the approaching car, police said.
Garner’s car was pushed into a guide rail and went over an embankment and overturned, coming to rest on its roof. Olivero’s car spun in the traffic lanes and came to rest on the opposite road shoulder, police said.
Both drivers and a passenger in Garner’s car, Laveta Jones, 43, of Montezuma, Georgia, were taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment. Garner and Jones’ injuries appeared to be minor, police said. The extent of Olivero’s injuries were unknown.
State police are investigating.
