SANILAC COUNTY, MI : Bad Axe man airlifted to hospital after crash with semi-truck on Wednesday, 7th August 2024
A Bad Axe man was airlifted to an area trauma center for treatment of injuries sustained in a crash involving a semi-truck in a rural area of Sanilac County.
The Sanilac County Sheriff's Office says a 36-year-old man from Bad Axe was driving a Ford Escape east on Deckerville Road around 10:45 a.m., when he ran a stop sign at VanDyke Road in Evergreen Township.
The Bad Axe man hit a semi box truck traveling north on VanDyke Road, which spun sideways and rolled over. The Argyle Fire Department used hydraulic rescue tools to cut the Bad Axe man from his SUV.
An ambulance rushed him to Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City for emergency treatment. A Flightcare helicopter later airlifted him from the hospital to a Mid-Michigan trauma center.
Another ambulance transported the 23-year-old man from Washington driving the semi truck to Marlette Regional Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
