Folsom, CA : Folsom Police Officer injured in DUI crash on Saturday, 22nd October 2016

Saturday evening around 7 p.m., an on-duty Folsom Police Officer was involved in a collision with another motorist on Riley Street near Lembi Drive after the driver turned left in front of the police car.

The officer was injured and transported by ambulance to an area hospital. He suffered an injury to his hand and is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

The other driver, Benjamin Leonard Lucero, 24, of Manteca, was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked into jail for a suspected felony DUI causing injury, and driving with a suspended driver's license.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving. Please remember to arrange a sober ride anytime you are drinking alcohol.
