Wood County, OH :US 6 open again following fatal early morning wreck on Monday, July 13th 2015
A person has died following a multi vehicle accident involving commercial vehicles and a minivan.At approximately 7:50 a.m. Monday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol received a call of an accident on US 6 near Silverwood Road in Wood County and determined there was one fatality upon arrival.Authorities say a commercial tanker was stopped eastbound on US 6 waiting for a school bus to make a turn when a second commercial truck rear-ended the stopped tanker. The force of the collision sent the second commercial truck left of center striking a minivan, killing the driver of the minivan. That driver has been identified as Steven Plottner, 57, of Marblehead, Ohio.The driver of the tanker, Douglas Greenwood, 50, of Tyler, Texas, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The bus was not carrying any kids but three adults were on board but uninjured.US 6 has since reopened after many hours of being closed.The crash in under investigation and OSHP says dense fog at the time of the accident may be a factor. Neither alcohol nor drug use is suspected.
