Phelps, NY : Three people killed in a three-vehicle collision on a rural western New York road on Tuesday, December 16, 2014
State police have released the names of the three people killed in a three-vehicle collision on a rural western New York road.
Troopers say 71-year-old Richard Rhinevault of Geneva was driving on state Route 14 in the Ontario County town of Phelps shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday when he failed to stop at a stop sign at an intersection.
His car struck a sport utility vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman from Wolcott. Troopers say the impact sent the SUV into the path of a pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Mary Heidenreich of Lyons.
Heidenreich was killed along with two passengers in the SUV, 77-year-old Robert Abbott and 51-year-old Kent Frazer, both from Lyons.
The injured SUV driver was treated at a Rochester hospital. Rhinevault wasn't injured.
Troopers say their investigation is continuing.
